I was tasked with creating 3 album covers (one typography-based, one abstract, and one photo manipulation) for a song that I was unfamiliar with. The song is "A Shot in the Arm" by Wilco. The song is about a man who is heartbroken because the woman he loves has changed and doesn't want to be with him anymore. I interpreted it as he needs something to help him feel better, and that he is "drowning" without it. For the typography cover, I chose to repeat wilco throughout the background. For the photo manipulation cover, I chose to photoshop an arm coming out of the ocean to show someone reaching for help. For the abstract cover, I used procreate and watercolor brushes. I used bright colors against the muted background because the song is upbeat and not necessarily sad, but the story behind the song is depressing.
